The original idea for Lost and Found was to create a single non-profit entity that would be able to make decisions based on the good of the community rather than for the motive of making money. However, due to regulations regarding competition, the soda fountain and retail sales of certain goods would have had to be restricted to the point of detracting from the idea of the soda fountain area. A decision was then made to divide the pharmacy and soda fountain into two separate entities to provide for more flexibility in the soda fountain area. While the soda fountain has a proprietary tax status, it is intended that the entity will always have a large role in philanthropy projects to support the pharmacy entity and the community at large.
